THE CENTRE POMPIDOU MÁLAGA OPENS ON MARCH 29, 2015.
After many phone calls I was finally privileged enough to be invited and to enjoy the event. All of the attendees were waiting anxiously before an event that was so exclusive due to the reduced number of guests. The delay before the ceremony and the high temperatures during that day caused comments to not be as enthusiastic as it was expected of such an event.
The opening ceremony was led by the Mayor of Málaga, Francisco de la Torre. He was followed by Alain Seban, the President of the museum in Paris, who emphasized that this is the first Pompidou center to be inaugurated outside France, and that it is rooted in the idea of creating a world cultural network. The French Minister of Culture and Communications, Fleur Pellerin, also explained that the Centre Pompidou Málaga is based on a new concept of museum that embraces all art disciplines and that will attach great importance to helping children understand art.
Carmen Thyssen and Antonio Banderas where present next to the group of politicians.
Among other guests I met the bullfighter Javier Conde very settled now in Malaga and always supports any cultural initiative happening in the city. Once the opening ceremony was over, we visit the museum where I could enjoy some of my favorite artists such as Frida Kahlo, Chagall and Kandinsky among others.
